Starting a new course with God inevitably brings resistance. Determining where the resistance is coming from, and it’s purpose, determines whether you change or stay the course.

…putting out to sea from there, we encountered strong headwinds that made it difficult to keep the ship on course. So we sailed north… between the island and the mainland. Keeping to the open sea. Acts 27:4-5

The crew chose to sail the open seas between the mainland and the island. Their intent wasn’t to get off course, but to find the path of least resistance. Nevertheless, that course led them to another ship, which took them off course, and eventually shipwrecked.

Much, much later, they did end up where they were headed. Yet, the choice of the ship’s captain cost them the ship, the cargo, being lost at sea, and it almost cost people their lives.

Remade has been pushed out to sea for 2012, and we are already fighting headwinds! The winds are making it difficult to stay the course.

I found myself looking for the path of least resistance. I wanted to sail with smooth seas. I wanted to sail right up the middle between the island and the mainland!

The course for Remade has been revealed, and it’s guaranteed stormy seas ahead. However, in this particular storm, I have determined to stay the course and fight the headwinds.

Headwinds are a force to be reckoned with. They can either knock you out of the game, or make you a better sailor!

Not every force of resistance comes from the enemy; people, our health, and even God can push against the course we’re sailing. The only way to know how to respond to headwinds is to humbly seek the One which the winds and waves obey. He will direct our path and tell us if we should either change or stay the course!

When Jesus woke up, he rebuked the wind and said to the waves, “Silence! Be still!” Suddenly the wind stopped, and there was a great calm. Mark 4:39

Now Your Turn: When the storms of life rage, and you are being beaten by headwinds what is your instinctive response? Do you press in and seek the Lord, do you change course or abandon ship altogether? Do you have any seaworthy stories? Let’s Chat…

Just what I needed to hear today!!! Thanks so much Beth. It can be difficult to sail in those headwinds but God is always there to see us through.

      Hi Kim,

I have been known to get a prophetic word now and again, but reading your mind – out of my pay grade! 🙂 I am glad that it resonated with you! I hope the new job is blessing you, and thanks for stopping by.
