For we do not wrestle against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this age, against spiritual hosts of wickedness in the heavenly places. Ephesians 6:12

I recently had to make a U-turn decision. I had a vision, I had a plan, and I had momentum, and God spoke STOP! So I stopped. The U-turn went against everything I wanted to do. It went against my vision, my plan, and definitely against the flow of my momentum!

The decision caused great turmoil, and gave opportunity for the enemy to move in. So, did I miss something? Wouldn’t a decision to obey  God bring me peace?

Yes, obedience to God does bring peace. It brought peace to me. However, that doesn’t mean it brings peace for everyone else.

The situation reminded me about my home church. We are in the middle of a building campaign. The leadership has peace about the decisions they are making. However, that didn’t necessarily bring peace to everyone else who saw the vision, heard the plan, and began to move in that direction.

So, I asked God the preverbal question – WHY NOT?

BECAUSE… When God begins to move, and takes ground in areas the enemy has ruled and reign there is a battle for territory! The battle isn’t with people, the battle is inside of people! It’s spiritual! The battle ground begins to reach where humans wrestles with their own character, and the result is no peace.

The enemy owns territory in our spirits through spiritual strongholds. Those strongholds can manifest through fear, insecurities, mistrust and many other weaknesses of human reasoning. The spiritual stronghold becomes a literal battle of captivity, giving the illusion that we are fighting against people!

So what do we do when we are in a battle? We put on our armor and we FIGHT!!!!

1. Belt of Truth: We seek out the Truth of God’s word. The word says When the Spirit of Truth comes, He will guide you into all Truth. He will not speak on His own. But will tell you what He has heard. He will tell you about the future.

2. Breastplate of Righteousness: We cover ourselves with the Righteousness of God. The word says The mouth of the righteous man utters wisdom, and His tongue speaks what is just.

3. Boots of Peace: We stand in the inheritance that is ours! The word says Peace I leave with you; my peace I give you. I do not give you as the world gives. Do not let your hearts be troubled and do not be afraid.

4. Shield of Faith: We deflect the enemy’s arrows with faith! The word says Faith is being sure of what we hope for and certain of what we do not see.

5. Helmet of Salvation: We win with the mind of Christ. The word says You must have the same attitude that Christ Jesus had.

6. Sword of the Spirit: We fight a spiritual battle the same way Jesus did with the WORD OF GOD! The word says It is written… man shall not live by bread alone but by every word that comes from the mouth of God!

The spiritual war that we are fighting will never be won by weapons of this world!

We use God’s mighty weapons, not worldly weapons, to knock down the strongholds of human reasoning and to destroy false arguments. We destroy every proud obstical that keeps people from knowing God. We capture their rebellious thoughts and teach them to OBEY Christ! 2 Cor. 10:4-5
