Have you ever had a vision, and as quickly as it arrived it’s gone, and it’s only remnant is a dazed feeling mixed with limitless possibilities? It seems after such an unexpected moment the ears listen more intensely, the eyes scan anything for clues, and the brain analyzes every word, sign, scripture, and sermon in hopes for more understanding. Your body becomes a bloodhound in spirit, searching for the scent of God’s direction.

Nevertheless, the body can only take so much of the bloodhound mentality when nothing is found, and the ears get tired of listening, the eyes get tired of looking, and the mind gets tired of thinking. Every attempt to try and add to that moment pales in comparison, and eventually it’s laid down.

BUT GOD! Who is faithful in ALL things revisits us. Not just to revive the remnant of a vision, but to bring greater revelation, understanding, and direction.

To which after that revelation, we slowly move our hand to our chin, sheepishly closing our mouth, which is undoubtedly resting on the floor. We recognize that original dazed feeling mixed with limitless possibilities. The thought that God would want to do such things through us, causes our knees to buckle, and a sudden feeling of unworthiness floods our being.

I can imagine God smirking in the heavens at our spiritual appearance. Our overwhelmed heart is probably the obvious reason why He doesn’t release the fullness of His plan to us.

However, I am beginning to understand a greater purpose for God’s intentionally spaced revelations. And I believe it’s more than the obvious “You can’t handle the truth!” coming from the voice of God which freakishly sounds like Jack Nicholson in my head.

There is something powerful that begins to work deep inside us from the moment God breathes on our heart. It’s the sifting of our character. The waiting, otherwise known as the in between season. It takes us on a journey, rooting out the things within us that limits the power of God needed to fulfill His plans.

Now to him who is able to do immeasurably more than all we ask or imagine, according to his power that is at work within us. Ephesians 3:20

Often times we don’t see the immeasurably more because we won’t embrace the in between season for it’s intended purpose; to remove the things that restrict the power of God within us.

God will give us a glimpse of His plan to allow PRIDE to surface, to see if we take what was breathed by the Spirit and attempt to fulfill it in the natural.

God gives us a brief look at His intentions for our lives, to allow any FEAR to surface to see if we take control.

God allows a glance of our purpose, to bring to the surface any DISOBEDIENCE, to see if we ignore His prompting or His voice.

God shares what He plans to accomplish through us, to see if UNBELIEF becomes our master when the vision can no longer be seen.

Pride, fear, disobedience, and unbelief can all hinder the power of God which is already at work in us. From the moment God speaks His heart’s desire for our lives, we are fully equipped with all power and authority to fulfill it! His Spirit in us is our proof!

When God cuts away pride, then humility takes it place, which creates greater space for the presence of God.

When God roots out fear it allows the boldness of Holy Spirit move in signs and wonders.

When God wipes away disobedience it unleashes obedience, and His authority goes before us and covers us.

When God removes unbelief then faith engulfs us, and the ability of a limitless God moves us to new levels.

Zig Ziglar says “What you get by reaching your destination is not nearly as important what you will become by reaching your destination.”

God’s ultimate desire is that when we do what He’s called us to do, we are the reflection of His character. Therefore, the journey to the vision is far more important than the vision itself. The wait, the in between season, turns us into the likeness of Christ, and releases the power of God which is already at work within us!
