My 2012 is already starting out with a new adventure! Today I am headed to the Brazilian Consulate in San Francisco for a visa!
Yes, that’s right, I’m goin’ to Brazil!!! I’ve traveled all over Europe, but this is definitely something new! Everything about this trip is one new adventure after another! I’d never considered going to Brazil before. All I ever knew about Brazil was the Amazon and piranhas! It was the country we watched on National Geographic, not one you actually went to!
Yet, look at me now, at the end of this month I’m headed to another continent! Although speaking isn’t a new adventure, speaking through and interpreter is! Now that’s an adventure!
As the new year was approaching, there was this excitement building inside me that I’ve never sensed before. I really think it’s because 2012 is going to be a year of adventure!
A life coach and blogging friend John Flachetto is kicking off his new company, and everything is about having an adventure in life!
My friend Cassandra over at Musing Toward Grace wrote that she’s planning to live outrageously this year with high expectations!
One of the girls on my team is headed for Haiti in four months for a missions trip! She’s never even been out of California! Now that’s an adventure!
And my daughter is working on getting her drivers license – need I say more people?!
I’m convinced 2012 will be littered with brand new opportunities for me and you to experience!
So, today, I encourage you when new possibilities present themselves don’t shrink back! Kick fear in the teeth and say “I’m in!”
Preparing for Brazil has been one lucky moment after another to look at the things I’m afraid of and ask why? It’s had me searching the deep parts of me, and forced me to look at what’s gnawing at my insides! I usually discover it’s nothing that a little faith can’t stomp out!
So here’s to trying something new in 2012! Let’s toast to new adventures!
In the words of my friend Bryan Brooks from Teach Sabbath Habit:
Sometimes in the winds of change we find our true direction.
