MINISTRY
Such a formal word for something I feel is a natural response to need. Ministry is freely giving away what has been given to me — comfort, grace, forgiveness, and mercy.
I’ve come to embrace that my life is being lived for the benefit of another. He comforts us in all our troubles so that we can comfort others. When they are troubled, we will be able to give them the same comfort God has given us. 2 Cor. 1:4 As I follow Christ, it sometimes leads me down roads I would have never anticipated traveling.
It was Jesus who took the unexpected route in order to encounter one woman desperate to be seen and convinced she had been forgotten. (John 4:4-42) Because Jesus went after the one, it has become my passion to do the same. There is no greater privelage than to tell the woman who persevered she’s brave. Or to hug the one who is ready to give up. Or to make time to listen to a the story so another feels heard and seen.
My life, like everyone else, is made up of stories — I just choose to share mine out loud. I was a teen bride, a military wife, a mother of a special needs child, and the first in my family to find a relationship with Christ. I have open and closed businesses, and had epic victories and a disastrous defeats. These stories, mixed with the saving grace of Jesus Christ are my messages to those God places in my pathway. I share my story to give others the courage and permission to share theirs.
When I pull away the titles, the websites, and the formalities, it boils down to one simple thing: Use me Lord in the small ways and in the big ways but above all just don’t forget to write me into your story.
