{Oh my friends, I am so excited to introduce our guest blogger! And just in time for all of those Christmas parties! I invited this little gem into my house for a couple hours, and by the time she left I felt like a movie star! She rummaged through my closet, jewelry box, and makeup drawer and breathed life into my dreary and blah wardrobe! And she magically did it all without me having to step foot into a department store! For those of us on a budget that’s music to our ears, and for those of us who hate to shop we’re like sign me up! After spending a few hours with Mrs Knockout (as Grace is lovingly known by) I knew I had to share her with all of you! She has her own fun little blog over at Mrs Knockout where every day is a special occasion! Please show her Remade love by leaving her some your comments!}

Hello there beautifuls! I am so excited to be guest blogging for the amazing Remade Ministries!

Today’s post is all about your perfect holiday special occasion outfit. Oh, and here’s the twist- you already own it! I’m here to show you that you already have your perfect holiday special occasion outfit, and you don’t even need to step into a store to find it! As a fashion blogger and personal stylist, I like to think I have a unique formula of how to get the most out of your wardrobe, all while feeling glamorous AND being cost effective. I believe in taking a look at what we currently own with fresh eyes. By doing that we can transform a top that we’ve worn 50 times, and with one new trick, it becomes something totally different and unique.

“What are these tricks you speak of?” Well, let me tell you! Follow this formula, and you’ll be sure to dazzle and feel radiant at this years Christmas party:

1 statement piece + neutral playmates + stepping out of your comfort zone = you are a fashion goddess queen

Let me break this down for you.

  • Pick out 1 statement piece. This could be a detailed top or dress. It could be an accessory like a fabulous necklace or headband. Maybe even a pair of heels that have been on the shelf that you love and just NEVER wear. (Ladies, it’s time to tell yourself that THIS is your special occasion and PUT THE HEELS ON ;D) Another statement is MAKE-UP! Maybe you throw on a bold lip color, or try an eyeliner trick. Whatever you pick out, this is the star of your show.
  • Now you want to pick out pieces that are going to play nicely with your statement piece. These are neutrals. A neutral is a solid color (but preferably not too bright such as neon), has a mellow print or pattern, and has a simple shape to it.
  • This is where you need to step out of your comfort zone and take some chances! Grab all your belts, scarves, and jewelry. Lay out your outfit and PLAY! Have FUN and lay things next to each other in ways that you wouldn’t normally. I guarantee once you do this, you will see things in a way you haven’t before and you will see some combinations that blow your mind and breathe new life into your clothes.

As I’ve shown in this photo, my formula is this:

A sequin top (statement) + jeans (neutral) + blazer (neutral) + red flats (neutral)

Yep, red shoes! See how fun it makes it!? It’s a neutral because it’s a solid, but it’s fun and it enhances the whole outfit!

Your neutrals don’t have to be boring black, blue, brown, or grey. Purple or red or something with a small pattern CAN be a neutral, and they add your unique fashion sense to your whole outfit.

Once you have these basics down you can accessorize with your favorite pieces of jewelry. Accessories add personality to your ensemble and make it uniquely YOU.

  • Now rock it! After you have put everything together, and stepped out of your normal pairing of things, go confidently to your party. Don’t question whether this or that works, enjoy the work of art you just made (and spent $0 dollars on – that feels pretty good right?)

There you have it! It was a total pleasure popping in and sharing some of my tips and tricks for how to get your perfect holiday special occasion outfit without even stepping foot into a store! I think I could just hug you right now! I was just frowning in my closet and crying over my wallet as I thought about all those Christmas Parties I have coming up. I am going to turn off the computer and go play upstairs with a whole new perspective! Thank you so much for this tangible encouragement to be radiant in my everyday. And I warn you… if I ever get the honor of meeting you in person – I will hug your neck!
