Because I said so!

Oh, how I hated those words and swore in my youth I’d never say them to my own children! Only to find them leaking out of my mouth all too easily! But those four words hold so much authority! They end the conversation, draw a line in the sand, and make way for order to take its rightful place!

I never thought I would say them, but in many cases – whether a persistent toddler or rebellious teen, I found myself pulling the I have more authority than you card and declaring enough is enough with the because I said so!

Why?

Because when we know who we are, then we understand the power we hold from our position of authority. We suddenly realize that the unnecessary dialog that is taking place between us and a subordinate does not have to continue.

The same is true for those crazy dialogs we enter into with our self-talk or with the enemy of our souls! We sit and plead, beg, avoid, and doubt when all it takes is a revelation of what the King of kings has already spoken, and we can pull the because He said so card and end the foolish dialog!

In the days of monarchies, the king would send forth decrees which were made into law simply by the declaration of the herald. He would go from village to village bringing forth the decree only by opening his mouth and declaring the written instructions of the king.

There was no wondering whether or not the decree would be followed or whether or not the person declaring the decree would be taken seriously! The herald had the full authority of the king.

So it goes for us today. The Bible holds the decrees from the King of kings. We are His heralds. We have the full authority to declare the written Word of God over our lives and stand with expectancy that it shall be done! We don’t have to wonder if things will come into alignment after we’ve spoken it, we just have to position ourselves to receive what we’ve declared to happen.

Jesus said,

I tell you the truth, whatever you forbid on earth will be forbidden in heaven, and whatever you permit on earth will be permitted in heaven. Matt 18:18

We’ve been given the power to declare the King’s will over our lives and the lives of those we love. We can actually pull the because He said so card, not because of who we are, but because of who we belong to!

Our declarations of the word of God hold the power to:
  • Call things forth which do not exist.
  • Speak things into alignment which are out of order.
  • Set atmospheres and create destiny.

We have the power of the Holy Spirit, which is known as the Spirit of Truth residing inside each one of us who belong to Christ. We can exercise that authority and power in the name of Jesus.

At the end of each prayer we say “amen” which is derived from the Hebrew word aman to mean “he confirmed, supported, or upheld.” This word is associated with the Hebrew word for truth ’emet, which carries the idea of certainty or dependability.

So when we make a declaration, and end it in Jesus name, amen. We are actually saying because He said so, and He confirms and supports what is being declared, and it is upheld by the full weight of the King.

As the decrees declared by the heralds in in the name of the king, so our declarations hold the weight of our King.

When we are struggling in seasons of doubt, fear, insecurities, and uncertainty we do not have to beg, plead, or barter. We simply stand in confidence, and declare OUT LOUD the word of God – changing the atmosphere of our hearts and our surroundings! We call forth the things we are believing for, and then position ourselves to receive the very decree we’ve declared!

Standing boldly with you!
